The Salt Lake City (SLC) airport is roughly a 25 minute drive from the campus of the University of Utah. Taxi fare is about $40. The Airport Trax Line is scheduled to open in early 2013, providing light rail service from the airport to the University of Utah campus (with a stop about a block away from the University Guest House).
Because of NSF Funding Rules, funded participants must travel on a U.S. Flag Carrier Airline (listed here, for example).
